It started its journey in January 1972 soon after the liberation of Bangladesh without any airlines. On March 4 1972, it completed its first flight from Dhaka to London having 179 passengers. On March 7 1972 two flight went to Chittagong & Sylhet and on March 9 of the same year, a flight went to Jessore. These were the first domestic flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
